My latest addiction......

I have been slightly distracted lately by my newest addiction....The Twilight Saga, or if I am to be completely honest, the oh so hot Robert Pattinson that plays Edward Cullen in the movies. My friends are all raising their eyebrows slightly, and I understand that as a 35 year old woman I should not be lusting after a 23 year old boy....but.. I'm single and fancy free and it's fun!!! And this year is going to be all about fun for me!

And on to card making....I have been asked by my office to make all of the staff birthday cards for the year, so will start posting those shortly. It has been challenging and fun to create cards that I think match the people that are going to get them. At least the way that I see them :o)

This card however was a sympathy card for someone who lost her father this week. She is an elegant and quiet lady and I wanted to create something that was simple and elegant and beautiful for her.

Thanks to Helen from Firenze cards who sent me the picture that inspired this card...

So, I guess if I am going to start doing this blogging thing properly, I am going to have to start paying attention to the names of the papers and things I use when I make my cards. I don't tend to know the names of the card stock (I only know it's called card stock because of my friend Helen) and inks etc that I use.
This is a picture of a small stand I did for a friends restaurant as she has very kindly offered to display my cards in the hope I may sell a few :o)
I made the card using a lovely Cuttlebug folder of Christmas baubles with a pearlescent (sp?) paper which I edged with a platinum ink pad (may have been Versamark??)
The word JOY is stamped using my lovely new Technique Tuesday alphabet stamp set (whew, I finally knew the name of something) and is backed by some lovely metallic silver scraps of paper I found at my favourite paper shop - Deckle Edge.
I finished the card off with some silver ribbon and a few red bijouxs for fun.

The stand is decorated with pink ribbon and pink flowers with a chocolate brown flower brad as they are my favourite colour combo (and also the colours of my logo)

Anyway, cheers for now.
Hoping I'll get better at this :O)

My dear friend Helen created this blog for me about 2 years ago and this is the first time I have ever actually posted anything on it. She has posted some photo's of a few of the cards I have made and has pushed me to add some more, but when it comes to computers, if it's not for work, I don't really know what to do with them.
But, I'm finally learning what to do with this "blog" and am going to give it a shot.
I don't have any photograph's of my cards stored on my PC at the moment, so am using this inaugural blog to introduce my favourite card making assistants, Annie and Ollie. They love it when I make cards, they get to play with the embellishments, walk and sleep on all the pretty paper and generally drive mom (me) mad, but their absolute best is when mom brings out the ribbons.
I will be taking some card pictures tonight and will post some tomorrow I promise!!
Take care
Sam

Here are a few cards I made on Sunday - with more to come...
